WTFU?

Knoxville’s WTFU. Behold. Kentucky native Barrett Burcham’s powerful vocals are backed by an experienced line up that includes drummer Mark T Dunn, Atlanta and Nashville veteran who spent 7 years with George Jones in the 80’s. On guitars and lap steel, Tomassi John Montana, who, after stints in Northern California and Austin, played in Knoxville rock and roll band American Peacemakers, sharing the stage with some of the finest bands in the Southeast including Dash Rip Rock, Sons of Bill,  John Paul Keith, Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires, Mic Harrison and The High Score, and Fifth on Floor. Bassist Nicholas Horner logged years playing, singing, writing, and arranging in New York’s performing and recording scene, along with international projects. Now a Knoxvillian, Nick’s great vocals and first call bass playing fell into place quickly with the band. Also from the Empire State is our newest member, vocalist/sax player Darian Pagano, who brings her high energy playing and singing into every set, every night.

During the last couple of years leading up to the legendary Allman Brothers Band’s final shows, founding member Butch Trucks’ bass drum head had some lettering on it that said Wake The Fuck Up. Butch was calling attention to all the hatred and violence which was manifesting itself day by day in America. Trucks remembered the contempt and scorn shown to long-haired rock and rollers, especially in the South, back in the day. Sadly, decades later, that negativity and anger crept back into our nation. Got to remember the power of love. The power of music.

Always on the lookout for the somewhat obscure to complement catholic originals, the band has an eclectic mix of influences and their tunes can go from Leon Russell to Butch Walker to Janis Joplin. Hip hop to British rock. Come out and join us. But remember, WTFU.
